Project personnel

1

Angela Nankabirwa is a Research Officer in Algae Studies Scientist/ Limnology at the National Fisheries Resources Research Institute (NaFIRRI) of National Agricultural Research Organization (NARO), Uganda. Nankabirwa’s research interests centre on freshwater algae ecology and diversity under different trophic environments, and their consequences for fish production. Angela Nankabirwa is spear heading this project, in the search for algae species that can be utilised for filtering industrial effluent.

2

Dr. William Okello is a Senior Research Officer of Limnology at the National Fisheries Resources Research Institute (NaFIRRI) of National Agricultural Research Organization (NARO), Uganda. Dr. Okello’s research interests centre on water quality, phytoplankton, general freshwater ecology and diversity under different trophic environments. Dr. William Okello is leading the water quality study in this project.

3

Dr. John Adriko is a Senior Researcher in Plant Molecular Biology at the National Agricultural Research Laboratories (NARL) of National Agricultural Research Organization (NARO). Dr. Adriko’s research areas and interests are in Plant Pathology, Biotechnology of Medicinal Plants as well as characterization of biodiversity (microbial, pest and plant). In this project Dr. Adriko will carry out the molecular characterization of algae species with potential to clean effluent from industries
